Alec was signed from Armadale Thistle. He made a few reserve appearances before making his first team debut and became a frequent starter in the line up for three seasons. For 1964-65, Alec re-signed but featured more often in the reserves. Initially retained for the next campaign, he left to join Bradford Park Avenue in August 1965.
