Bobby signed from Rutherglen Glencairn. He made his first appearance as a trialist and was retained for 1959-60. He featured often in the line up, until he was called up for national service in early 1960. When he was demobbed in March 1962, he returned to play in the reserves but was released two months later. Bobby then joined Morton.
