Originally playing for Glasgow Eastwood F.Ps, Bob had been with Queen’s Park and Kilmarnock before he signed for United. He played mainly in the reserves for two seasons at Tannadice and was released in May 1951. He later became Provost of Hamilton District Council in the 1970s.
