Erik was a Norwegian international signed from Viking Stavanger. Previously he had been with ODD Grenland BK and Tromso IL. He spent his first two seasons as a first choice in the side after making his debut as a trialist. In November 1997, he collected a runners-up medal in the League Cup final. In his third and last season with he made just a handful of appearances due to injuries. Erik left in May 1999 to return to Norway, where he rejoined ODD Grenland BK.
