Kevin joined United Duntocher Boys Club on an 'S' form. He was the grandson of Celtic legend Patsy Gallacher and nephew of Dundee’s Tommy Gallacher.

He was a regular in the United line up for five years collecting a runners-up medal in the UEFA Cup final in 1987 and his goal against Barcelona at Tannadice in the quarter final is the stuff of legend. He also picked up two Scottish Cup runners-up medals.

He moved to Coventry City in January 1990 for a reported £900,000. Already a youth and Under-21 international Kevin had an international career spanning 13 years and earned a total of 53 for Scotland.

International Debut:

Just three days after scoring in the 1988 Scottish Cup Final, Gallacher made his first International appearance, in a 0-0 Rous Cup match versus Colombia at Hampden Park. The following Saturday he came off the bench at Wembley in a 1-0 defeat to England. Gallacher was involved in the build up to the winning goal over Norway in a World Cup qualifying tie in Oslo in September, and started in the 2-0 defeat to Italy in Perugia in December. After his move to England, Gallacher became a regular in the Scotland squad, earning 53 caps, with appearances in Euro '92, Euro '96 and the World Cup Finals in 1998.
