A highly influential player, he collected runners-up medals in the UEFA Cup final, a League Cup final and three Scottish Cup finals before earning a Scottish Cup winnerís medal in 1994.

Daveís uncompromising style often had him in trouble with referees, but it also made him hugely popular with the fans. He was a regular in the side for twelve seasons and was rewarded with a testimonial against Dundee in August 1995. He was released in 1998 and joined Raith Rovers.

Dave had played for Scotland at schools, youth and Under-21 level and during his time with United he was recognised at full international level. He is currently with United as a youth coach.
