First Team Debuts

Milestones

United took the lead only a couple of minutes after Hamish McAlpine had denied Frank McDougall who had broken clear. Paul Sturrock controlled a knock down from John Holt, before wriggling past two defenders and despatching the ball past Money. Two goals in the space of as many minutes changed the complexion of the game, however.

Saints equalised when Frank McDougall headed in an inswinging corner and then Drew Jarvie picked up the return from a neat one-two to fire home from the edge of the box. United's equaliser came three minutes from the break when Dave Narey's volley was deflected past the scrambling Campbell Money.
