First Team Debuts

Milestones

United's opener provided a glimpse of the old Paul Sturrock when he volleyed home a Davie Dodd's knock down from 20 yards. Rangers got back on level terms when a speculative cross by McClelland was headed over Hamish McAlpine by Sandy Clark.

The Rangers captain was also the architect behind the Ibrox side's second goal when his quick break from defence ended with a cross which Bobby Williamson turned in at the near post. From then on it was almost complete United domination which brought its reward when Davie Dodds steered in the equaliser after Peter McCloy had saved an effort from Paul Sturrock.
