First Team Debuts

Milestones

Skipper Paul Hegarty was the hero of United's latest Dens Park success story. His goals either side of the interval swung the game in our favour after a robust if uninspired first half. In keeping with recent goals, the opener was a header from a set-piece. Paul Sturrock's free-kick on the right was met by Paul Hegarty whose downward header beat Geddes.

The second goal was almost a replica of the first. This time an Ian Redford free from the left supplied the ammunition and Paul Hegarty's header soared high into the roof of the net. From then on it was virtually one-way traffic and a third goal came when Maurice Malpas floated a free kick into the box, substitute John Brown failed to clear and Billy Kirkwood ran on to deliver a fierce angular volley, leaving Geddes helpless.
