First Team Debuts

United recorded their third consecutive league victory over a Hibs side still suffering from that shock Cup exit at the hands of East Fife. It wasn't a vintage United performance with the effects of the long lay-off still apparent. United opened their account when a Davie Dodds header struck the bar and Paul Hegarty nodded in the rebound three minutes from the Interval.

Maurice Malpas, who had twice been denied by 'keeper Robin Rae, deservedly volleyed in the second thirteen minutes after the restart. Alan Sneddon, John Blackley and Ally Brazil of Hibs were all booked, with the latter ultimately sent off for a second caution.
