First Team Debuts

Milestones

The first period produced little by way of excitement other than three yellow cards. These were administered to Alex Caldwell (9 mins.) and Don McVicar (37) for Saints while Ralph Milne (10) went into the book for dissent.

Two minutes into the second half United took the lead when Davie Dodds pounced on a mix-up to score from close in. That failed to subdue a hard-working Perth side who were awarded a penalty when Paul Hegarty downed Drew Rutherford. Jim Morton made no mistake from the spot. Alex Taylor replaced striker John Reilly and within two minutes of his introduction he fed Ralph Milne and his cross was headed in by John Holt.
