First Team Debuts

Milestones

Celtic rarely displayed the urgency you'd expect from a side in pursuit of the Championship and rarely tested Billy Thomson. Indeed it came as something of a surprise when that master of opportunity Brian McClair conjured a goal out of nothing. However yet another late goal this time by John Clark saw justice being done.

During the first half there was little action in either goalmouth, but there was a double blow for us when Maurice Malpas limped off and then John Holt suffered a strain early in the second half. Apart from the disruption it caused in this match, it also augured badly for Wednesday's U.E.FA tie. Celtic's goal followed a long clearance by Pat Bonner, Mo Johnston flicked it on and Brian McClair pounced to beat Billy Thomson.
