First Team Debuts

In keeping with recent confrontations at Kilbowie, this was a keenly contested affair. Honours were even in the first half. Billy Thomson was called into action to block a low cross from the right with his feet and tip over a long range Dickson shot, and at the other end Gallacher parried a snap shot from John Clark and could only watch a first time volley from Ian Redford flash past.

The pattern was similar in the second half. Gallacher did well to prevent a Richard Gough header from beating him, then Ian Redford headed narrowly past. Perhaps the best chance of the night came in the 79th minute. A Richard Gough cross from the right was headed in strongly by Ian Redford, but Gallacher's legs prevented us taking the lead. Immediately, Clydebank retaliated and only a late intervention from Billy Thomson by diving at Shank's feet kept the Bankies at bay.
