Although this was a competitive fixture it failed to produce the usual edge you'd expect from a Derby Match. Few would have questioned our entitlement to victory but the lack of serious match practice obviously had an effect on both teams display. Dundee after pressing early, fell out of the game and it was no surprise when we opened the scoring. A cross from the left by Paul Sturrock was headed down by Richard Gough and John Clark stooped to head the ball strongly past Geddes. The second half contained few moments of note though Geddes did well to thwart Ralph Milne, injuring himself in the process. Dundee's one serious threat of that second period came seven minutes from time when substitute Graeme Harvey headed just over.
