First Team Debuts

Milestones

Our City neighbours gained their first victory over us at Dens Park since October, 1979, and even that might not have come about had Eamonn Bannon not missed a penalty kick.

Back to almost full strength, United perhaps had the Cup Final on their minds. Having said that Paul Sturrock was desperately unlucky to see his header strike a post. There was worse to follow because from the clearance Dundee broke to the other end and Bobby Connor swept in Rafferty's tow cross.

United's best spell of the second period failed to produce an equaliser. Equality looked on the cards When a trip by George McGeachie on Tom Coyne brought a penalty but no joy to Tannadice fans.
