First Team Debuts

Milestones

In the first meeting, Aberdeen could argue that they had the best chances when both Hewitt and Stark spurned simple opportunities. For United, Paul Sturrock could well have put us ahead but his shot struck Jim Leighton's leg after a slip by Stewart McKimmie.

In the second half, United grabbed more of the play but the best chance of the half fell to Steve Cowan who latched on to a short back pass by Richard Gough, but to his and everyone else's relief, the Don's winger curled his shot over the bar.
