First Team Debuts

Surprisingly in view of Dundee's improved form this term, United rung up their most emphatic Premier win over Dundee. Dominant from the start, United snuffed out Dundee completely and went ahead in the 22nd minute. Paul Sturrock's flick out to the left found Eamonn Bannon, who went to the bye-line and shaped to cross before unleashing an unsaveable shot past Geddes from an impossible angle.

If any criticism could be levelled at United it was that it took so long to convert their superiority into goals. However, the floodgates opened in the last fifteen minutes. Dave Beaumont sent Paul Sturrock away for the second, and the Scotland striker hammered home from 15 yards. Davie Dodds touched on for Alex Taylor to drive home the third. Four minutes from time Davie Dodds completed the rout when he touched in a Richard Gough header from a Dave Narey free-kick.
