United remained unchallenged at the top of Division Two following a comprehensive win over Greenock Morton. As has been the case for most of the season, though, United started slowly, and it took them until the second half to register the first goal of the afternoon.

Harry Michie opened the scoring after 25 minutes in the second half and just three minutes later, Johnny Hart added a second. A penalty was awarded to United moments later when Duncan Hutchison was felled in the box, and for the second week running, the spot kick went unconverted, as John Bain failed to beat Wilson in the Morton goal. United were undeterred by the failure, and three minutes from time, they added a third, Harry Michie bringing the grand total to three for the afternoon.
