First Team Debuts

Any disappointment that existed in the Tannadice camp following that UEFA Cup exit was quickly banished with this all action attacking display. Without Paul Sturrock; Tommy Coyne, Stuart Beedie and Alex Taylor were reinstated to the side. The three newcomers were a highly influential factor in this emphatic victory.

In the 7th minute an Eamonn Bannon drive was beaten down by Smith but Paul Hegarty, following up, scored.

Then Alex Taylor was tripped in the box and Eamonn Bannon converted the penalty award. Hearts pegged one back in the 35th minute when John Robertson was impeded by Hamish McAlpine and Kenny Black obliged from the spot.

Right on half-time Stuart Beedie controlled a lofted Eamonn Bannon pass before slipping the ball past Smith. Alex Taylor's angled drive and an own goal by substitute Neil Berry completed the Tannadice account before substitute Jim Bone scored.
