First Team Debuts

Milestones

United gained suitable revenge for the earlier 4-3 Tannadice reversal. Quite apart from the obvious satisfaction with the result, the most pleasing aspect must have been the fluency with which we played and this will probably be classed as our best league performance of the season to date.

Dundee opened brightly and might have gone ahead in the early exchanges. However, United then confiscated the ball and turned on the style. Paul Sturrock and Eamonn Bannon's fine move on the left ended with Richard Gough diving to head full length past Carson.

A Hamish McAlpine kick out initiated the second. Paul Sturrock collected it and put Tommy Coyne clear and the young striker's low grounder went in at the far post.
