First Team Debuts

Milestones

A goal ahead from the first leg, United booked their Hampden place with an Eamonn Bannon free kick in 29 minutes. Davie Dodds was pulled down on the very edge of the box and Eamonn's curling free kick went just inside Henry Smith's left-hand post.

A quick one-two early in the second half killed the game as a contest. A sweet Bannon-Sturrock move let Davie Dodds score and two minutes later from the left was Billy Kirkwood.

Donald Park's goal for Hearts in the final ten minutes was by way of a consolation.
