First Team Debuts

Milestones
Eamonn Bannon played his 250th major competitive game for the Club.

Many felt that this was the finest derby encounter for years and no doubt any neutral observer or Dundee fan voiced that opinion. However, for Tannadice fans that was no consolation as United slumped to our third successive Premier defeat.

Dundee opened the scoring in nine minutes when Derek McWilliams headed in a corner. John Clark levelled matters when his volley was deflected off John McCormack, spinning past a rooted Carson. Tosh McKinlay put Dundee ahead with a crashing volley four minutes later but John Clark put Paul Sturrock in the clear and he equalised two minutes later with an angled drive.

Colin Harris then headed on a corner which struck the post and entered the net via Eamonn Bannon. Once again United got back on level terms when John Clark dived to head in a Paul Sturrock cross. Then newcomer John Brown headed in Dundee's winner.
