At Dens Park, Dundee provided a very striking contrast to the loose work of Dundee United, and although luck was certainly always favouring them they were easily the superior team. The five-goal margin, however, is too flattering, representing as it does what would seem an absolute rout, while at times the game was completely the reverse.

United persist in that close-passing game which will not pay with the team they have at present. Campbell was the chief sinner in this respect, continually refusing to swing the ball. Not until they fall into the fast and bustling style that upset the Celts last year can they hope to reap a safe harvest of points.
