First Team Debuts

Milestones

Morton opened the scoring in this one when on 25 minutes Harper thundered a shot past MacKay from 10 yards after a good cross by Ferrie and knock down by Mason. Within three minutes Morton had doubled their lead. Cameron fouled Gallacher on the edge of the box and from Murray's free-kick, Mason headed home. Amazingly it was 3-0 two minutes later. Harper beat three men on the wing before crossing to Ferrie who nodded home.

United went in at half time with heads down and they never recovered as a minute after the interval they were four behind. This time Mason headed home from eight yards after a good ball by Ferrie. Morton took their foot of the gas after that and lost a goal when substitute Ian Scott glanced home a Wilson cross. A lethal three goals midway through the first half floored United and it was a night to forget for the tangerines.
