First Team Debuts

Milestones

Tannadice fans left the ground in disgruntled mood having witnessed United completely outplay Dumbarton but have to settle for a draw. That meant united would have to win 4-0 at Parkhead to top section 3 of their League grouping.

The Sons had their best spelt early in the game but we took the lead in the 42nd minute. From a free kick Paul Hegarty nodded down to Paul Sturrock who slipped the ball to Tom McAdam and he poked the ball in against his old team mates. Just after Williams had denied Torn McAdam a second goal, Muir headed strongly past Hamish McAlpine.

This signalled an assault on the Dumbarton goal, but our best chance came in the 69th minute, Davie Dodds, recently introduced as a substitute, was obstructed in the box but Frank Kopel struck the spot-kick wide to the consternation of the smaller than usual 4,000 crowd.

None.
