First Team Debuts

Milestones

Following a victory over Hibs we moved into second place in the Premier table, and were the only viable challengers to Celtic whom we were to meet at Parkhead the followjng Saturday. Only one goal separated the sides, but this was mainly due to united's slack finishing.

A great goal put us ahead after half an hour. A long throw out by Hamish McAlpine was picked up by Graeme Payne who raced off and crossed, Hibs 'Keeper dropped it and Paul Hegarty dived to squeeze a header past McDonald. There was a let off for United after an hour when Wattie Smith barged Duncan off the ball but fortunately Hamlsh McAlpine brilliantly saved Brownlie's spot kick.
