First Team Debuts

St Valentine's Day proved that there is little "love" between clubs when Scottish Cup advancement is at stake for this was a cracker from first to last.

United's poor form placed them into the Easter Road tie as clear underdogs, but the cup brought out one performances of the season from the men from Tannadice. Hibs' early dominance and confidence was shattered when United broke away to grab a shock lead. A long ball from
Dave Narey was knocked down by Paul Hegarty into the path of the eager Henry Hall and his finish left Mike McDonald with no chance. But the home side were stunned into retaliation just 12 minutes later when they equalised with a Des Bremner header, the cross was provided by
by Alex. Edwards. From then until the end, the tie swayed from end to end with both sides missing golden opportunities for the winner. Sadly both sides efforts were to prove fruitless.
