First Team Debuts

Milestones

United were left regretting a poor home result in this tie with Porto that ultimately was their downfall as they crashed out the cup. In a stormy match in Porto, United actually played well even although they were down to 10 men after a red card.

George Fleming was sent off after one of the Portuguese players fouled him and he turned round to swing a kick at the player in retaliation.

Paul Hegarty had given United the lead in the 65th minute but no sooner had they levelled the tie on aggregate, Seninho put the game back beyond the reach of Scots with a classy finish.
