First Team Debuts

Hamish McAlpine made his 200th competitive appearance for the Club.
Alex Rennie scored his first goal for the Club.

United lost their unbeaten record against continental sides in this first leg match against FC Porto. In what was a very poor performance by United, the conspired to support their own downfall.

Things could have been so different had United taken a penalty chance awarded after Fleming was downed in the box. Payne's weak spot kick was touched around the post by the 'keeper.

Eight minuted later, Porto sneaked in to score the first goal of the tie. A defensive blunder afforded Oliveira The space to stroke home.

United toiled for large spells in this game until Alex Rennie struck a great equaliser in the 68th minute. A low and hard shot from 20 yards found it's way into the net.

His joy was short lived though as he allowed Seninho to get past him and slip the ball past the advancing McAlpine.
