A bleak afternoon at Fir Park where we ran into a Motherwell side bang in form. From the moment ex-Dundee winger Billy Campbell put the home side ahead with a header from ten yards after 37 minutes, the Steelmen were the more polished outfit. A dreadful mix-up between Jackie Copland and Jim Cameron enabled McCabe to nip in and make it two in the 49th minute.

Five minutes later and we found ourselves three behind, Lawson let McCabe's cross run through his legs and the unmarked McClymont hammered in a low drive from eight yards. Our misery was completed in the 68th minute when Wattie Smith brought down Campbell in the box and Millar duly converted the penalty to complete the scoring.
