First Team Debuts

Milestones

Although finishing 0-0, this game was excellent entertainment for the 12,000 crowd at Bramall Lane. Dundee United were the best side in the first half and unlucky not to have gone into the break ahead. When opportunities arose, United dithered somewhat when a quick shot at goal may have been a better option.

In the second half it was Sheffield United who dominated, pinning the Dundee side back in their own half. However, McAlpine matched everything thrown at him. He was ably supported by his central defender Doug Smith.
