First Team Debuts

Milestones

Clyde fans at the time rated the eventual scoreline as a travesty of justice after their favourites dominated for long spells without making it count in the goals for column. United on the other hand appeared happy to bide their time before striking with telling effect. The points to aid the Tannadice Club's clincing of a Fairs Cup place for the following season were more or less assured early on.

Davie Wilson paved the way for the 12th minute opener when he crossed for Kenny Cameron to net with a header. And it was Wilson again who supplied the ammunition for Ian Mitchell to increase the home lead in 25 minutes with another header. United appeared to have held on to their advantage but with only nine minutes remaining Stan Anderson powered in a great shot, but with in minutes Wilson had done it again for United when he sent in another inviting cross Ian Mitchell to complete the scoring with yet another header.
