First Team Debuts

Milestones

It isn't often that someone hits a hat-trick, but finishes on the losing side, but that was the fate of United forward lan Mitchell at Broomfield.

Airdrie went ahead thanks to a Drew Jarvie goal after 14 minutes, but Ian Mitchell struck twice in as many minutes nine minutes later. First he prodded home a loose ball and then Ian Mitchell profited from a slack Goodwin passback to edge United ahead. Goodwin hit back with the equaliser to atone for his mistake, but Ian Mitchell completed his hat-trick to give United the lead once more with a twenty yarder which was deflected Into the net. Before the interval Marshall levelled things at 3-3.

The less said about United's second half performance the better as Mark Cowan with a brace and a second of the match by Drew Jarvie earned the home side a well deserved and ultimately convincing victory.
